Since I have moved from a place two blocks from the beach to a comfortable, yet decidedly urban environment, I have experience new panoramas. Raleigh is somewhat hilly, with deciduous trees and older homes and buildings. It is also growing rapidly. Every vista is changing. I love this city and the mixture of architecture and the layers of houses, trees, church steeples, new condominiums, small bungalows, more huge trees, new tall buildings and cranes. There are several tall, lanky building cranes bent over each growing structures. It is exciting and facinating. The images for the series, Under Construction, developed from photos I have taken and loaded on to my laptop as a screensaver. I looked at them and still update them in my mind as I walk around the city. After building 12 large collagraph plates and proofing them I felt a lack of something. They were too static. That wasn't what I was experiencing. I started to cut them up and move them around. One First Friday I pinned them all to the wall and waited for public reaction. It was very favorable. Currently I am constructing images from the prints I made from the plates I constructed......this feels right.
